Read Receipts — Email Tracking

Track when recipients open your emails with optional read receipt tracking on sent messages.

What Are Read Receipts?

Read Receipts is an optional tracking feature that lets you know when a recipient opens an email you've sent through TridentInbox. It works by embedding an invisible 1x1 pixel image in the email.

How to Enable Tracking

  • In Mission Control, compose an email using the Scribe tab
  • Toggle "Track Opens" to ON before sending
  • Send the email via Gmail or Outlook
  • View tracking data on the Read Receipts page
  • The Read Receipts Dashboard

Navigate to Read Receipts from the sidebar to see:

    • Summary Stats: Total tracked emails, total opened, overall open rate
    • Email List: Each tracked email with recipient, subject, sent date, and open status
    • Open Details: First opened timestamp, total open count, last opened timestamp
    • Filters: Filter by status (all, opened, unopened)

    How It Works

When you send an email with tracking enabled:

  • A unique tracking pixel URL is embedded in the email HTML
  • When the recipient opens the email, their email client loads the pixel
  • The pixel request hits our server and records the open event
  • The Read Receipts dashboard updates with the open data
  • Limitations

    • Some email clients block external images by default (tracking won't register)
    • Gmail's image proxy may cause a single "open" to register even if the recipient hasn't viewed the email
    • Plain-text email clients won't load the tracking pixel
    • The feature is opt-in per email — tracking is never automatic

    Privacy Considerations

Read receipt tracking is a standard business practice, but use it responsibly:

    • Only track emails where knowing the open status has business value
    • Don't use tracking for personal or sensitive communications
    • Be aware that some recipients may find tracking intrusive
    • The tracking pixel is invisible and doesn't affect email rendering
